A brand new £8m casino, restaurant and cocktail bar is now open in Manchester City Centre. Napoleons Casino and Restaurant debuted on Portland Street next door to the recently launched Hotel Brooklyn, itself a sister venue to the popular Hotel Gotham on King Street across town in late September. In addition to creating 120 jobs, this new casino will be open 24 hours a day and feature a range of gaming tables including American roulette, Blackjack, Three Card Poker and Baccarat, alongside a selection of state-of-the-art electronic gaming slots.

The venue boasts a glitzy private dining area with a restaurant overlooking the main casino space, and promises to be a popular drinking spot thanks to a striking cocktail bar that will be the casino’s focal point. Mahjong and poker will also be available in the games room, while complimentary valet parking will be on offer for those arriving during the evening.

The sale of one of its sites has impacted the latest results for the leisure group behind Napoleons Casinos and Owlerton Stadium, but an 'acceptable' profit is expected in 2019 with the group currently developing a new banqueting suite and a further casino.

The A&S Leisure Group operates four Napoleons Casino sites in Sheffield, Bradford, Hull and Leeds as well as Owlerton Greyhound Stadium.

Recently filed accounts for The A&S Leisure Group show turnover of £26m was achieved in the year ending 30 September 2018, down from £27.9m in 2017.

Pre-tax profit was £620,521, compared to £1.5m the year before.

The figures included an exceptional write down of £904,381 in respect of the Ecclesall Road, Sheffield site. The site was closed in January 2018 and sold in December.

In their report accompanying the results, the directors said: 'Whilst the directors are confident that an acceptable profit will be achieved in 2019, the current state of the UK economy will put further pressure on business results.

'The current state of the economy with high levels of personal debt, lower Wage settlements and increasing inflation and prices will result in customers having less disposable income available for leisure activities. However the group has strong cash reserves to act as a cushion against any deterioration in the trading position, and efforts continue to reduce costs wherever possible.'

The group is currently developing a new £5.5m conference and events venue in Sheffield (pictured). The OEC will be located Napoleons Casino and Owlerton Sports Stadium, and will feature a range of multi-purpose suites, catering for up to 500 guests.

A new Napoleons Casino is also being developed in Manchester and both projects are set for completion in late 2019.
