Black Bear Casino In Duluth Minnesota

Posted on  by admin

Black Bear Casino Resort and Fond-du-Luth Casino will reopen Monday, June 15, with limited hours and gaming due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The casinos, owned by the Fond du Lac Band of Lake. Close to Jay Cooke State Park & a quick 20 min drive into Duluth’s attractions as well. Nice size room, beds are comfortable. Decent size casino with a steakhouse, deli, few bars, a nightclub. Pool is ok, really humid in there & they just recently stopped allowing smoking in.

Review of the Black Bear Casino Poker Room

Black Bear has a small poker room in their North Minnesota casino. When you walk in the door you will see the Blackjack Alley on the left where just behind it lies the Black Bear poker room. Currently, Black Bear only has 4 tables and stakes only range from $2/$4 up to $3/$6 texas holdem and have a maximum of 9 players per table. Very seldomly you can find a game of Seven Card Stud being played at Black Bear.

You usually don’t see more than 2 tables going on at once and it typically takes 30-45 minutes to get seated at a table. Also, watch out for the players, they are typically regulars who know every other player’s plays. I had a hard time making a consistent profit at Black Bear, while I would typically double my money at Minnesota Casinos such as Grand Casino Hinckley or the Canterbury Card Club in Shakopee, MN.

How to get into a game

Go to the player board at the left side of the poker room. Find out which games are available from the floor person and ask him to seat you in the game of your choice. He will either direct you to your seat or put you on the waiting list. Any questions you may have concerning the poker room can be answered by the floor person.

You can purchase chips from either the floor person (recommended) or a chip runner. If you plan on having the chip runner get your chips, wait until you are seated to request chips.

To enter a game you must have at least 5 times the big blind for that game. For example, in a $3/$6 holdem game you must bring at least $30 ($5x$6) in chips to the table. You are only allowed to place bets with as many chips as you have in front of you, cash does not play. You may ask questions to the floor person, but you cannot share the details of your hand with anybody else at the table.

Very easy access off I-35 and Hwy 210 west of Duluth. Security said anywhere behind casino - some parked is lot next to parking garage, also acceptable is the lot next to the maintenance shed, much quieter here and not so much light from casino lights.

Not a Lot of maneuver room for semi's or big rigs but it does work.

Pulled in here for overnight dry camping stay. No RV park here, just dry camping. Various areas to park on the back side. Freeway noise, but acceptable. Casino area nice, although we are not gamblers. We told security we were overnight campers, but it didn't seem to be an issue when we told them where we set up. Buffet was quite good, with lots of variety and tasty food. Would stop here again.

Great food & seafood buffet is now on Thursday and Friday to reduce the wait (Best seafood buffet in MN) The steak house is a little pricey but worth it... try the ribeye!
We try to go there as much as possible 3- 4 times month, we live closer to three other casinos but drive the 30+ miles to Black Bear

Enjoyed a nice stay at this casino. Even got in a round of Excellent golf ! ! Lots and Lots of slots with a little Black Jack. People were very friendly and security patrolled often through the lot and gave no trouble. Good location to see and do things in Duluth or a kick off point for going up the north shore. Good access to grocery and fuel. I stayed 3 nights.
